Company History

Charles Leek and Sons Limited is a small engineering company which can trace its history back to the early 1900's. We became a Limited Company in 1920 and are now managed by the 4th generation of the Leek family.
The company was first located in West Street, Leek, and spent sixty distinguished years in textile engineering, manufacturing a range of knitting looms designed by Mr. Barry Leek.

Our present strength developed from the day we purchased a gear hobbing machine to cut the gears used on looms and for other machinery requirements in the local industry.
Eventually the demand for gears overtook the production of our textile machinery so we committed ourselves to producing gears full time. We now produce a comprehensive range of gears manufactured from a variety of raw materials such as Nylon, Tufnol, Stainless Steel and medium to high carbon Steels, these can be cut from our, or the customers pre-machined blanks. Today the company is located on the Ashbourne road in Leek and we continue to invest in up-to-date equipment to meet customer and production demands.

The company now specialises in the manufacture, design and development of Gears & Related Items for any industry requiring small quantities for specific applications. Often we supply replacement parts that cannot be obtained from original manufacturers due to discontinued production. Our clients range from large PLC's to Traction Engine and Veteran Car enthusiasts. The company's expertise is such that it can work from customer drawings, damaged samples, or design and give advice on a solution to meet your requirements.
